Last time I talked about the issue of teenaged girls doing the Big-B in my previous entry, The young, the underaged and Botox. Today, I am turning to the blogosphere to voice my concerns after coming across an online article featured on The West Australian about an eight-year-old from Birmingham being injected with Botox by her own mother! Excuse me, injecting an eight-year-old with Botox just to maintain her youthful and baby face look as she grows up? This is just insane! And it is also wrong and irresponsible at all levels. When I was eight years old almost twenty years ago, I only played with dolls and did normal things a child did in the nineties rather than experience what Britney Campbell is subjected to now. That is not all, did I need Botox when I was her age? No and I never did thanks to my normal and sensible upbringing!
I am not here to judge or do anything of a sort but injecting Botox and fillers into a young child’s face is considered unethical and we do not know what kind of health consequences her face and body will have. An eight-year-old (a minor and an underaged child for goodness sake) cannot make an informed decision when it comes to Botox. Secondly, we are talking about a fresh faced eight-year-old child not a woman in her forties or fifties here. Honestly, I cannot help but feel so sorry for that little girl and how her mother is being irresponsible. Her excuse? Read this article and you will find out what is her excuse (the lamest and most unacceptable excuse that shows what kind of mother Kerry Campbell is).
Anyway, what says you about this latest issue regarding a mother injecting her eight-year-old daughter with Botox and fillers? Do you think it is unethical and unacceptable for an eight-year-old girl to have Botox? Opinions are welcomed
that’s just utterly crazy..some people don’t deserve kids. Totally unethical…am tweeting this.
Thank you for your comment, bookjunkie. It is brilliant to know that I am not the only one feeling concerned and upset at how that mother is doing this to her own child. Yes, it is definitely unethical.
Why would you want to inject a KID with Botox? They don’t even need it, and it’s a time for them to grow and develop – freezing their facial muscles is surely NOT a good way to go about it. I can’t believe her vanity would extend to her poor child.
Excellent point, Kirsten. I agree that the mum’s vanity is definitely extended unto the poor little girl. Again, frozen muscles on a child’s face is wrong.
I think it is both unethical and immoral!!! How can you do that to your own kid?
I couldn’t agree more with what you said. Does question us all how could this mother do such a thing
It is so weird…I mean I don’t recall in my childhood either searching for wrinkles. I mean doesn’t botox require a needle anyways? I never wanted needles anywhere near me. The only ones I allowed as a child were the ones my doctors gave me and even then I wailed and cried. I mean I don’t need extra pain since the colombian dresses my mother made me wear were torture enough. I don’t need needles etc. to make it worse.
Well said and I agree with you. I never went searching and fussing over some non-existent wrinkles on my face either when I was eight years old.
This is so going to my health care ethics class next time. =]! Thank you!
Thank you, englendd, and good on you for deciding to bring up this issue about an eight-year-old girl doing the Big-B in your health care ethics class next time. Last but not least, you are welcome.
This is just absolutely awful! I can’t believe a mother is so obsessed with the beauty of her child that she would subject her to something like this. It ought to be against the law. Then stupid people like the mother could not have it done. I would think this is very unhealthy for this child. Children need to be protected from mothers like her. Thanks for coming by. Have a good weekend.
Thank you for voicing out, The Southern Lady. You are right about what this mother is doing should be considered against the law. Yes, I agree it is unhealthy for a child, let alone an eight-year-old.
Oh my gosh! I cannot believe this. If the mother wants a youthful face, okay, go ahead and inject yourself with botox. But a child? A child who does not even have wrinkles yet. I could see this child growing up with self-image issues already.
MaiBao, you said it very well and yes, that little girl is already having self-image problems.
It is definitely sick and twisted! So sad for the poor girl who may have averse affects when she is older. Thanks for bringing the topic to the table.
You are welcome, Ashley. What the mother is doing is not just considered sick and twisted but also she is setting this child up for a path of self-destruction and lots of body images issues.
That is so sad. This poor eight year old is going to have self esteem issues as she probably will not be able to accept how she looks because of her experience. I feel sorry for the girl…
Kaho, you are not the only one who commented that child will have issues with herself and you are not alone for being concerned. Thank you, Kaho.
Please, please, please tell me this is a sick joke. If this is real, I think the child should be taken away from this mother.
I am afraid it is sad and true. You are right that child should not be with her mother.
I love this quote from the article:
“They used to hurt, but now I don’t cry that much.”
Which translates roughly to, “HELP ME MY MUM IS CRAZY BUT I WON’T REALIZE IT UNTIL MY THIRTIES.”
Ruby, you got a point. Perhaps that little girl is smiling on the outside and crying on the inside. But then again, I think her mother is setting her up for a life full of disappointments and body image issues.
To add to what we talked about on my blog on this subject, they should TOTALLY get child services involved on a big scale. Those child beauty contests should have official rules forbidding Botox, virgin waxes (waxing a child’s down below so in the future it won’t get hairy) and other ‘beauty’ applications on children, even make-up! I believe they should grade the contestants on points like ‘most natural look’, ‘most natural entertainment’ etc. Actually, I think the contest should be ‘the purest child being a child’ contest.
Just like in sports, when they forbid steroids and that made a world of difference: it worked, everybody got judged on their own NATURAL achievements, and many unnecessary physical and psychological problems were evaded.
This child abuse just needs to stop!
You have a point, Greeneda. Yes it is time we do need competitions that judge a child according to talents and abilities rather than according to looks. Again, you are right that mother is committing abuse on her child.
I don’t understand how parents could think that this is even remotely ok.
You have said it well, Shawnie, and thanks for your opinion.
That’s sick! She’ll be the next Heidi Montag. Not known for anything EXCEPT her plastic surgery.
Unhappybride, you said it well. That poor child is definitely set up for something worse and as terrible as Heidi Montag’s.
This is wrong on so many levels. There is already too much emphasis on people trying to look like models or movie stars. Teenage girls seem to have more appearance issues than other age groups but now, to have a mother do this to her young child, is really unbelievable.
Nancy, you have said it well. What the mother has done to her child is definitely too much and unacceptable. Thank you for your comment
Wow! This tops everything without reason I have ever encountered!
What if she develops and illness or condition that leaves her scarred in some way…will her mother disown her?
So sad 😦
You said it well and you have asked an interesting question I agree on. What if the Botox in the long run may affect her face years from now no thanks to Mummy Dearest and Botox injections, who knows. Only time and results will tell.
OMG!! How can someone do this? Especially to a eight-year-old child… It’s not normal to inject Botox to a young child, who is not developed.
Yes, I must admit that I’ve followed a treatment like this at http://www.skinvitality.ca, but I’m 35… this kind of parents should do a physical test. Sad, very sad!!
